Justin Bieber' endorsement has been proven to be successful in a number of ways -- now, it's also leaving its mark on TV ratings. On July 19, the teen singing sensation wrote a message on his Twitter page encouraging his fans to check out a "funny" show in MTV's "The Hard Times of RJ Berger". Now, TV Guide is reporting that the network has renewed "RJ" for a second season -- thanks it part to a continuous ratings boost that has happened ever since Bieber put the message up.
MTV President of Programming Tony DiSanto praised the success of "Berger" to the magazine, even if he didn't specifically mention Bieber's name:
"We are 100 percent committed to scripted programming, and our current reality hits like 'Teen Mom', 'If You Really Knew Me', and, of course, 'Jersey Shore', provide an incredibly solid foundation for us to launch scripted series and let them gain traction. That's key, because whereas reality tends to burn bright and fast, scripted series take time to grow. We have been so heavily branded as a reality network [that] it will take a beat for our viewers to embrace this new diverse slate on the channel. That's why we are so thrilled by the response to 'Hard Times'."
It only makes sense for Justin to support MTV in any way possible -- after all, they are an outlet for his music videos and also produced a mini-documentary about his life earlier this year.
